Seasonal Vegetables – California Spring

Everyone should know that its best to buy produce when its in season. Like most things in life, the value of fruits and vegetables are highly time sensitive; the freshness, taste and even nutritional value of produce is degraded when eaten out of season.

In doing research to find out what vegetables are currently in season, I came across an interactive Peak Season Map at Epicurious.com, which breaks out the season’s best fruit and veggie picks, by state.

Vegan Earth Day Launches in Berkeley, 4/22!

I’ve had the pleasure of supporting communication efforts for the Berkeley Vegan Earth Day celebration, happening April 22nd on the UC Berkeley Campus. This is a phenomenal event–the first of its kind in the Bay Area– produced by Karine Brighten Events (remember the SF Vegan Fashion Show?). I suggest you pick up tickets asap– admission is $15 for adults, $10 with student ID, and seats are selling out fast!

Interview: Sushanta Bhandarkar and Naz Saeed of Zansus Purses

We had the chance to speak with Sushanta Bhandarkar and Naz Saeed, the fashionable power duo behind Zansus Purses. These ladies have created a line of beautiful upcycled hand and shoulder bags, clutches and totes, made from discarded fabrics. This pair are not only creating beautiful work, but they’re also minimizing material waste by repurposing goods destined for the landfill. They hope that their creations will help consumers become more aware of the impact their purchasing decisions have on the environment.
