My Existential Dietary Crisis

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a recipe. Part of that is due, without question, to my personal lazy habits. And part of it is due to a dietary identity crisis I’ve been having. I started eating seafood.

You may remember a post I wrote a year ago, To Eat Fish or Not To Eat Fish,” where I essentially deemed myself a pescetarian, noting,

“I’m open to eating [seafood], and appreciate its health benefits. In reality, even if I developed the perfect diet of land and sea based plants, and never touched a fish again, I’d still be a pescetarian, for the simple fact that I’m OK with the idea of eating fish.”

Vegan Earth Day Launches in Berkeley, 4/22!

I’ve had the pleasure of supporting communication efforts for the Berkeley Vegan Earth Day celebration, happening April 22nd on the UC Berkeley Campus. This is a phenomenal event–the first of its kind in the Bay Area– produced by Karine Brighten Events (remember the SF Vegan Fashion Show?). I suggest you pick up tickets asap– admission is $15 for adults, $10 with student ID, and seats are selling out fast!

The internet has been all a twitter about Livia Firth’s Oscar dress. The couture gown was chosen as part of Firth’s Green Carpet Challenge, wherein she committed to only wearing ethically and sustainably produced gowns on the red carpet during awards season. While many have been raving and fawning over it, there have been a few standing up in arms about its origins.
