5 Cruelty-Free Beauty Must-Haves for Winter 2010-2011

By: Ciara Peter – Animalfriendlyshopping.com

With winter just around the corner, it’s time to ditch the summer sparkle and put on our best matte – only this time we’re keeping the tan. The look for skin is a sheer, tinted moisturizer with matte bronzer swept up the cheekbone, and a little bit of highlight under the eye to make them shine. Smoky eyes are being redefined by deep purple and teal, with blacks and greys taking a backseat to these cool, shimmery shades. While nude lips are the best complement to ultra-dramatic eyes, you can also opt for a soft eye and bold, high-volume lips – with bright orangy reds being the color of the moment. The following five products are my favorite cruelty-free staples this season, including a few daring pigments to add some wow-factor to the daily routine.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Harlot

This Winter it’s all about Lips, and OCC Lip Tar is sure to put them front and center where they belong. With the longevity of a lipstick, but easy application of a gloss, a little bit of Lip Tar’s ultrapigmented formula goes a very long way. If Harlot’s not your thing, choose from one of 30 shades or mix and match to create the perfect custom color.

Urban Decay Stardust Shadow in Light Purple with Iridescent Sparkle

This silky, shimmery shadow puts a sparkly twist on smoky eyes, with 40% more sparkle than Urban Decay’s other shimmery shades. The glitter, made from a new technology called reflex, never chunks or falls from lids, giving you long lasting sheen without the mess. Use stardust as a liner or shadow and captivate people with your mystifying gaze.

LUSH Dream Cream

An oldie but goodie, this bestselling Lush body cream is perfect for soothing dry, chapped winter skin. Moisturizing elements like Olive Oil and Fair Trade Cocoa Butter mixed with soothing Chamomile and lavender keep skin soft and healthy during the rough, cold months while eliminating irritation and banishing blotches.

Boscia Luminizing Black Mask

This black peel-off mask is the “it” home facial product for Winter 2010. The mineral-rich formula detoxifies, purifies, and brightens while other natural ingredients minimize pores and exfoliate. It goes on like a mud mask and peels off like a cucumber mask, removing dead skin, impurities, and excess oil, leaving you glowing.

Urban Decay Temporary Tattoos

Embellish your body without the commitment. This tattoo set features three sheets of beautifully designed tattoos that last up to three days but can be removed immediately if you only need your “ink” for a few hours.
$25.00, Urbandecay.com
