This October The Runway Goes Green During San Francisco’s First Vegan Fashion Show

Vegan designers prove you don’t have to sacrifice style to save the planet

SAN FRANCISCO – Cruelty-free fashion fans will be treated to a free fashion show as part of the San Francisco Vegetarian Society’s 11th Annual World Vegetarian Festival. The San Francisco Vegan Fashion Show, taking place on October 2nd, will run from 4:45-6pm, and will highlight offerings from nationally recognized cruelty-free clothing, shoe and handbag designers. Rory Freedman, co-author of the best selling Skinny Bitch book series, will emcee the event, which will also feature a silent auction and fashion village.

The event is San Francisco’s first vegan fashion show, and will showcase styles from Pansy Maiden, Reco Jeans, Lions Share Industries Vaute Coture, Melie Bianco, Cri de Coeur and contributor Mission Savvy. Touted as a leader of the green movement, San Francisco already hosts a blossoming green fashion industry, and is a growing hub for ethical designers.

“San Francisco’s is a perfect place for a vegan fashion show, and I’m honored to be part of its first,” says Freedman of the event. “This is a phenomenal platform for promoting ethically-minded talent from across the country, and for proving that cruelty-free does not equate to frumpy. Green fashion is still, first and foremost, fashion.”

The San Francisco Vegan Fashion Show is being organized by Karine Brighten Events, a San Francisco Bay Area firm specializing in affordable, eco-friendly events. Owner Karine Brighten, who is on the board of the San Francisco Vegetarian Society, volunteered her service. “I love supporting organizations that educate the public about the benefits of cruelty-free living,” says Brighten. “Moreover, this type of event is great for showcasing ethical fashion as part of a holistic lifestyle, not just a trend.”

The event, which is expected to draw up to 350 attendees, is sponsored by Vegan Mainstream, Rory Freedman, author of Skinny Bitch, Animal Friendly Shopping, Grasshopper Salon, Pureology Colour Care, Cruely Free Face, Saturn Café, the San Francisco Fashion and Merchants Alliance, Ecorazzi, Margaret Jacobson Photography, Color Craft and Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. The festival takes place in Golden Gate Park’s County Fair Building and is free with $7 festival admission. Visit sfveganfashionshow.com for more information.
